ONE FOUNDATION INITIATIVES

In the spirit of community, sustainability, and the preservation of Carmel Valley, the ONE Foundation and ONE Carmel hosted a Wood Chip Mulch Giveaway. The event brought together neighbors, homeowners, and nature enthusiasts for a day of collective action and environmental care. Our mission is to support environmental sustainability, housing support, child education, and healthy lifestyles, with a focus on the Monterey Peninsula and Carmel region of California.

As we emerge from the winter storms, our backyards and gardens often bear the brunt of nature’s forces. To help our community recover and restore the beauty of Carmel Valley, ONE Carmel generously provided an excess of wood chip mulch to the public for free. This event, held at ONE Carmel’s September Ranch Equestrian Center, was a remarkable success and symbolizes our commitment to the local community’s well-being.

What We Accomplished:

• Erosion Control: Wood chip mulch, known for its ability to prevent soil erosion, was distributed to assist homeowners in fortifying their properties against the impact of winter storms. By providing this natural erosion control material, we aim to protect the land and maintain its beauty for years to come.
• Garden Landscape: Many residents took advantage of the wood chip mulch to enhance their garden landscapes. It not only helps with moisture retention but also adds a natural aesthetic appeal to any garden. This supports our mission to promote sustainable and beautiful environments.
• Weed Control: In an effort to combat weeds and invasive species, community members utilized the wood chips as a natural ground cover. This environmentally friendly approach ensures that our landscapes remain free from unwanted intruders.

Community Involvement:
The Wood Chip Mulch Giveaway was a self-serve initiative. We encouraged participants to bring their equipment and ensure the wood chips were securely covered during transportation. The response from the community was overwhelming, and we are delighted to have witnessed such a strong commitment to environmental sustainability.
